John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Why did Jesus came and die for us? We don’t seem to understand there is a great deal of evidence stacked against us, evidence God will one day use against us on the day he calls us to account for what we have done. We may try to hide our sins, and we may lie to cover up our sins when confronted, but what we do not understand is that God already knows and see what we have done.
The reason he came to die, is to offer us the opportunity to come clean, he is being patient allowing us time to face our unrighteous acts. However, if we fail to bring our sins forward, he will use the evidence, the evidence he already has against us to bring us to our knees.
Because God loves the world, he sent his son to pay the penalty for our sins, however, for God to apply the payment to our account for the sins we have committed, we need to repent of those sins, we need to confess them. If we fail to confess our sins, how can we receive forgiveness for those sins.
Who can forgive what has not been confessed? We are to understand, Jesus dying for our sins, came to offer us the opportunity to live free from our past, so that we can find his peace in the kingdom to come.
Psalm 32:1-5 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD account not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silent, my bones waxed old through my roaring all day long.
For day and night, thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. But then I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD, and thou forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Until we confess our sins before God, and until we confess our sins to those we have hurt in secret, we will find no peace in our lives because of the evidence we know is against us. The truth is known, we cannot hide our sins because what we do not know is that when we are confronted it is an opportunity for us to come clean and find peace. However, if we wait until patience has run out, that evidence will be brought out into the open to our own shame.
John 3:19-20 And this is the condemnation, that light comes into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither will come to the light, because his deeds will be exposed.
