This entry is part 8 of 8 in the series The Coming Season

We told you for us to understand the bible, and know how the end will come so that we might prepare for that day and our role in taking down the Antichrist, there is first a need for us to understand what took place in the past, and what we will share with you today is the revelation of the symbols used on the first four pages of Genesis, why they were used, and how we can use them to understand the rest of the bible and to be able to interpret the scriptures in preparation for our role in the end.

Let us look at the symbols of the trees of the garden, the tee of life, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and what we will notice although this was the first instance we see the use of trees representing people, if we were to read the scriptures carefully, we will find other instances of its use throughout the bible to both represent the righteous and the outcome for them, and the evil man and the outcome for them.

For example, when John saw the Pharisees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Matthew 3:7-10 “When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducee come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, we have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: John added, therefore, every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.”

Now, reading this story, we know John was not speaking to trees, the bible said he saw the Pharisees, and it was when he saw them, he made the statement using trees to symbolize who they were and the life they were living. But John did not stop there, he also told them using trees as an example of what will happen if they refuse to change their lives.

John said in warning, “Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” And why should they change their lives and bring fruit? John warns, “the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.” In-other-words, if they refuse, like trees they will be cut down and be burned. And so, looking at this example, we can see that the two trees of the garden of Eden were not literal trees but a symbol of Jesus the tree of life and Lucifer the symbol of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

So, what was the fruit of the tree Adam, and his wife ate to have caused them to sin against God. Using the example of John and his conversation with the Pharisee, we know John was not telling the Pharisees to bear fruit like trees because they were not tree but human beings. John was only using the symbol of trees to show how we are in relation with trees when it comes to living our lives. We can either bear good fruit live an upright life or bear bad fruit live a life of sin. Because how we live our lives, will show who we are, and what we stand for.

When we give good advice, we are said to be bearing good fruit, but when we give evil counsel, it is said we are a bad fruit. These terms and use of words are nothing new to us, we often in our own lives give people and persons the title of a bad apple because of what they display in their lives. And looking at the conversation that was taking place between Adam, Eve, and Lucifer we know the advice, or counsel provided to Adam and his wife was evil, and so Satan is known to be a tree that bears both good and evil fruit, and what he shared with Adam and his wife was evil.

Genesis 3:4-6 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

But John was not the only one to have used the symbol of a tree to describe people, and it was not the only time we see the use of this example of a tree being used to describe the life of a person. Because when Jesus also saw the Pharisees, this was how he addressed and responded to them after casting out an evil spirit out of an ill man.

In Matthew 12:25-35 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; said Jesus or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.” This was Jesus’ response when he saw the Pharisees and heard their accusations over the healing of the demon possessed.

And calling back to the beginning, and to show the old enmity that he has for the seed of the serpent, Jesus the king uttered this statement. “O generation of vipers” Jesus called them vipers, but again we know these were men and not snakes, but it comes to show these titles and symbols were used to describe the nature and or personality of the person.

“O generation of vipers, said Jesus, “how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. And you would think this was the only time we would have heard the use of this symbol to describe people and their personalities, because if we were to review the scripture, we will find Jesus often use these titles to help his disciples along the way.

John 15:4-5 “Abide in me” said Jesus, “and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” Then Jesus explains what he meant. Verse five “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” And what Jesus was saying, it is impossible for us to live with authority without submitting to his will because to live is to live by the life of Christ.

Now, how do you believe this will help us with the book of Revelation as we move toward discovering our role in taking down the Antichrist and preparing for the day of the Lord. It will help us interpret the scriptures that we might put things into perspective. Because leaving Gensis behind, did anyone realize at the end of the book of Revelation there was only one tree seen in the new kingdom.

Revelation 22:1-2 reads, “he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. And in the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve kinds of fruits and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” And if I told you Jesus said we are the branches and he is the vine, then who is the tree of life, and who are the leaves of the tree, and again what are the fruits the tree bears, and what is this water of life as clear as crystal?

The trees of the garden were not literal trees, but symbols of Christ the tree of life and Lucifer the fallen angel who knew what was good, and what was evil, and because of his rebellion, he chose to do what was evil by sharing with Adam and his wife the thing that was evil which was to rebel against God. And when we look at the scripture to see why there was only one tree in the new kingdom the tree of life, we can confirm it was because by this time in the revelation of John Satan and the false prophet were cast into the lake of fire.

After their defeat, the bible told us what happened to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Revelation 20:10 “The devil it said, that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.” And because the devil was cast into the lake of fire so did the symbol of his nature the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is why when we come to the last chapter of Revelation, we find only one tree Jesus the tree of life.

So, the next time we come across these things, let us not read from the mind of a child, but know these things were written down this way to help us understand the expressions of the people telling their stories.

The fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was the counsel of Lucifer to rebel against God, while the title of a serpent was a title given to Lucifer because of his nature to deceive. The trees of the garden were symbols of both Jesus the tree of life, and Lucier the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And when we put it all together, God was warning Adam to stay away from the cousel of Lucifer for the day he should obey the council of Lucifer, he shall surely die because that was the curse placed upon the life of Lucifer. Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; said Jesus or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.”
