This entry is part 3 of 8 in the series The Coming Season

When we pick up the bible starting at the first chapter of the bible, we always read this chapter in mind, Genesis chapter one that is, with the mind we are only reading upon the account of creation, and over time work ourselves up to a debate trying to prove there is a God responsible for the creation of the world. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And on the Christian part there is no doubt there is a God, but for the most part when faced with certain challenges and questions concerning creation, we often compromise our position because of a lack of detail as to how things came to be with some calling themselves Christians adapting to the teachings of evolution to explain human exitance and creation.

Among some who call themselves Christians, evolution is a factor of their faith because it does not seem possible for only two people to populate the earth. And because of the story concerning Eve and the talking snake, evolution had to be a part of this entire process for many within the Christian community.

But as we have said before, in-order for us to understand the bible, there is a need for us to understand the author, and we need to realize the stories are coming from real people. And once we can come down from the clouds, we will be able to explain the things we read in the bible with evidence there is a God because the stories are from real people who lived the experiences we are reading about.

So, what have we done to have compromise our position to accept this nonsense of a lie called evolution. First, we over spiritualize the bible by removing the human element from the stories and the scripture. And once we over spiritualize everything that happens around us, we will find it hard to explain what took place in the garden.

For example, when we read Genesis chapter one and verse one, what most of us heard reading this verse is the account of creation and who created the world, and then from there, when we run into an unbeliever, we get into a debate on the subject concerning who created the world. But what if I were to tell you, when we read Genesis one verse one and the rest of chapter one what we are hearing is the repentant story of Adam.

Because when we read the first three chapters of Genesis and put the stories together, we will realize the story of Genesis came about after the fall of Adam. So, what we have on the first three pages of Genesis is the repentant story of Adam leading up to his fall that led him to acknowledge there is only one God. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And not only is it the repentant story of Adam, it is also the history of creation and humanity.

Let us look at the story from the human perspective to understand how we came in possession of this story. First, it is the story of Adam the man who disobeyed God and came under God’s judgment for his act of disobedience. And as we have pointed out before, it is from this story we have the saying, Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

We have all sinned because we are the descendants of Adam, a rebellious father to all, and without this rebellion, it is important we know this saying would not have been necessary. But it is necessary because there was a man called Adam who sinned and was judged for his sins.

Now, what led Adam to have told this story is based on what took place in Genesis chapter three. Because in Genesis chapter three, Lucifer approached Eve and asked her if God had not said they may eat of all the trees of the garden. However, if we listen to the story of Genesis chapter three, most of us will get the idea the woman was speaking to Lucifer, not a snake, but for some reason the entire world get the idea Eve was speaking with a snake.

First, let us look at how we came to this conclusion; because in Genesis chapter three verse one we read, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, has God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” And it is from hearing the use of the word serpent we draw the conclusion Even was speaking to a serpent or a snake.

But when we consider what happened to Adam and his wife, we can see that this story was an afterthought and was not taking place in the moment of our reading the story. This story came after the fall, and because it came after the fall, the word serpent was used to describe Lucifer because by this time, Adam and his wife were judged and had come to realize they had been deceived.

So, based on the nature of Lucifer, his evil cunning, and his willingness to deceive man to destroy him, Adam gave Lucifer the title of a serpent in the story because Lucifer is cunning, and is as evil as a snake. As a result, we can tell this is the story of Adam, an afterthought, and his repentance because of what took place between Adam and Lucifer to have caused him to now be facing the penalty death.

The lie of the enemy was that he, that is Adam would not surely die, but what did God say to Adam if he should eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? God told Adam Genesis 2:17 “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eat thereof thou shalt surely die.”

But then, as cunning, and deceptive as he is, Lucifer told Adam and his wife God is a liar, and that it is because God knows the day you Adam should take my advice you will gain the knowledge of God, and you will know both good and evil. In-other-words, you will have no need for God.

At that moment, Adam and his wife thought this was true, and that it was a clever idea to join Satan in rebellion against God, that he, Adam might become like God, or become a god himself. But then, God came and found him out, and Adam at that moment realize what he had done and tried to hide himself from God. The result, however, was judgment, and it was after he received mercy and the promise of a son to come, a redeemer who would suffer the penalty on the human behalf, Adam then wrote down the account of his fall, and the account of his repentance.

Adam’s sin was to become a god, Satan’s plan was to become like God or take the place of God, but when he failed and when Adam failed, Adam repented of his sins and wrote the acknowledgement of truth that there is only one God. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

So, was it a serpent or a snake that was speaking with Adam and his wife, or was it Lucifer who was given the title of a serpent because of his cunning? The bible was clear, Eve was not speaking with a snake or serpent but Lucifer who is evil and is an evil tree bearing both the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.” The scripture told us he was cunning.

And when we come to the book of Isaiah, we can see what the plan of Lucifer was, and why he was said to be cunning. It was because he had a goal in mind, an unchanged goal until this day, and the day leading up to the end of his reign on earth. The end is coming, and it will be a day of terror for the world, but for us to know how this will end for the world and for us to be able to convince the world to repent and turn to Christ, we are to first understand the past and the story of the first created man.

Now in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 we read, and where did we get this prophecy from, is it not from Genesis 3:15? Let us read, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there comes a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposed and exalted himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Now Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” This is the coming and present contention that will in the end put an end to the cunning of Lucifer. The end is coming, and it is not a new story, but is the story of real people from the past…Thank you for listening…
