In what we called modern-day Christianity, we are not hearing too much of people being healed and miracles being performed, and the reason for that, it’s because we do not believe. We say we believe, but what we do has shown we do not know what it really means to believe and because we do not know what it means to believe we are living with what God sees as curable diseases.
Some diseases are incurable according to the medical society, but who do we rather believe. There is no doubt the medical community are credible and have received God’s knowledge to be able to help us along in certain situations; nevertheless, they are limited as to what they can do.
Like us, they do not believe they can cure our diseases when they run into things they do not understand or have researched without success, but they are not the last stop on the road to recovery because there is a God who is more than capable of healing our bodies.
Deep in our hearts, we know there is a God; although some of us are denying this reality, the sickness in our bodies is a sign there is someone greater than ourselves because of the desire we possess to live yet are limited to what we can accomplish. Deep in our hearts, we know we do not have all the answers, but to believe in a God that is more than capable of healing our bodies seems to be a hard thing for many Christians and non-Christians to do.
But why is this the case? Well, it is hard because we simply do not believe, and if we say we believe, we do not know what it means to believe. We do know we need help with our situation, but how can we receive God’s healing? The one way we know to receive God’s healing is to believe in him, it is to know he is God and is more than capable.
It is written, Hebrews 11:6, “Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” But why is this the case, and why will God not move on our unbelief and help us to believe? Well, that is because; although God has moved on our behalf to heal our bodies because of our unbelief we will not do what he said we are to do that we might have the results of being healed.
Because we do not believe God or take God at his word, we will not do what he said we are to do without realizing God is willing, and that it is because we are failing to do what he said we are to do we are left in our state of need. When Jesus was in the temple among his people, a sick man came to him and said, Matthew 8:2-3 “Behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou can make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
To receive his healing, the leper recognized and acknowledge Jesus for who he was, he worshiped Jesus, he believed in Jesus so he went to Jesus knowing Jesus can heal him. There are a few things that may have helped this leper, the evidence and witnesses who themselves were healed by Jesus, and although he may not have witnessed their healing, he certainly believed God and was healed of his disease.
If we truly believe, we will recognize Jesus for who he is and take him at his word doing what he said we are to do that we might be healed. All it takes is for us to be as a little child and humble ourselves believing without a doubt that God can and has made it possible for us to be healed.
Do you believe He can?
