Today, I would like to talk about God’s mission and why God sent us out into the world to proclaim his kingdom because it is important, we understand why we are sent to proclaim the kingdom of God. We know because of sin God sent his Son into the world to pay the penalty for sin, and by this act on Jesus’ part, we are set free from the power of sin which is death.
But as we go back to the book of Genesis did we ever take the time to consider God’s original plan, to realize the reason we are called and sent out into the world to proclaim the gospel was because from the beginning God has made us a partner in the affairs of his kingdom.
Creating the world and coming to the end of it, God said, Genesis 1:26-27: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” And committing to his word, God made for himself a partner that would carry out His will in the earth.
But that partner turned and rebelled against God, handing over the kingdom to the enemy. Doing this brought death to humanity which was a disruption in God’s plan. God had given power to his human partner to affect his creation, to affect life on earth, and because this partnership was built on God’s trust in humanity the act of rebellion affected all of humanity.
Now, after the fall of man, God found for himself another partner, his only Son Jesus Christ, and finding this partner the scripture records, Hebrews 2:8 “Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.” Because in order to correct man’s mistake and rebellion God had to give the same kind of authority to his Son that would affect change in the direction God desire.
As such, Salvation becomes human and becoming human, suffered in man’s place, and through such actions corrected man’s fall to now place him before God as a son of God. Doing this, Jesus commands us to enter into a relationship with God by commanding us to “Go in all the world and proclaim the gospel.” He said beforehand, Matthew 28:18, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in the earth.” And by saying this, He wanted us to know all things are placed under his authority and having been placed under his authority, He is sending us out in the authority with all things being placed under us.
Therefore, we are to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19. This means we are to go knowing all things are placed under our authority and we are to make disciples, and as we go confirm on them the authority of God by placing all things under their authority. We are to do these things because God has once again called us into a partnership with himself that we might affect the affairs of the kingdom.
