Discovering God’s Secrets

When we become Christians, we know one of the first things we need from God is assurance, and there is no doubt, God gives us his Holy Spirit to teach and guide us along with providing that assurance. Now that is an important point to consider, the truth of God sending his Holy Spirit to teach and remind us of the things he taught us. John 14:16-17.

It is important for several reasons, first and foremost, it is God’s desire for us to know what he has planned, not just for the future, but also our lives. And secondly, because for us to learn God’s secrets, we need to be proactive about it. That means, we are to get up and get moving, we need to read his word, spend time with him, and do what he asked us to do because it is by doing what he asked us to do we are going to discover what is in the treasure box of God.

Jesus said John 15:14-15You are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Therefore, I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”

To many Christians, the word of God is a mystery, prophecy is passing us by because we are not spending time with God. We read the bible and wish to be like Elijah, Moses, and all the great men, but seem to not realize the loneliness they endured being cut off from their families and friends to become what God desires.

To be a friend of God, we will need to spend time with God, and spending time with God comes with obedience and a desire to be with God. But not everyone is willing to be close to God, most will say they wish to be close with God, but the way we live and spend our time proves whether we truly wish to spend time with God. We want to know what God has planned according to our future and the end of the age without realizing God will only share his secrets with those who he considered friends, and when we are a friend of God, we will spend time with him.

God’s desire is for us to know what he has in store us for, but are we willing to be his friend that he might share all that the Father has revealed to him with us? He told his disciples “You are my friends, if you do whatsoever, I command you. Therefore, I call you not servants” Because they were doing what Jesus had asked of them, they left family and home to be with Jesus, and because they did, they saw the power and wonders of God.

Matthew 10:37-39 He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and follow me, is not worthy of me. He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

Are we willing to make this sacrifice that we might learn the secrets of God?
