Today, I would like to talk to you about bringing forth fruits and how we can bring forth fruit according to Jesus. And according to Jesus, not only are we to bring forth fruit, our fruit must remain. But how can we bring forth fruit, and even more challenging how can we cause our fruits to remain? This is our duty according to Jesus, and if it is, and it is, we must obey.
First, we need to know what fruits Jesus is talking about before we can even attempt to produce these fruits, and for most Christians, this fruit spoken of by Jesus would be some reflection of keeping the law such as, do not steal, kill, and commit adultery. And although, we must refrain from doing those things; are these the fruits Jesus is talking about?
I don’t believe they are because here is what Jesus said to his disciples “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:16.
It is possible for us to bring forth fruit if we believe Jesus because as Jesus said, we did not choose and ordained him, rather, he chose and ordained us, and in choosing us he has given us the right or authority to bring forth fruit.” John 1:12-13.
At first, it may have seemed Jesus was speaking in relation to the law, but what Jesus was speaking about was discipleship. The fruits Jesus speak of here, is for us to make disciples unto ourselves, train, and establish them in the kingdom of God and training these new disciples we are to then say unto them as Jesus did to us, “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” Mathew 10:40-42.
Jesus said, when we get about doing the business of bringing forth fruit, whatever we ask the Father in the authority in which Jesus sent us out to make disciples, the Father will give it to us. We can bring forth fruit and our fruit will remain because we have the authority to do so; we can raise the dead, cast out demons, and manifest the power of the kingdom because Jesus said we are to do it, and as we go about doing what Jesus said we are to do, we will bear the fruits of righteousness because of the authority behind us.
Do you believe this?
