As we wait patiently on the return of Jesus Christ, there is something we needed to have understood as Christians. And what we needed to have understood is that the Lord will do nothing until he first revealed it to his children. We can find examples of this reality and truth throughout the entire bible, but so often, we are easily divided over issues we should have understood.
I understand we are not all from the same school of thought because we are disciples of many different pastors and church leaders. However, we are not strangers to each other because we are born of the same Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, and you would think being born of the same Spirit we would agree on many things.
That is, however, a common misunderstanding because although born of the same spirit we will not all agree, but the one thing we should learn to do is truly love one another because this genuine love toward one another will be needed for us to survive the future. And we are to take note, Jesus, before leaving us behind commands us to love one another showing us this is something of the human will as it is not by some unconscious means by which we will love. Loving one another will be something we consciously do, just as the gifts of God are gifts we will have to practically put into practice if we are to see the fruits of the gifts.
These things we are instructed to do will not be done by waiting on God, God has commanded us to perform his word, to accomplish his will, and while we are waiting around on God what we do not understand is that we will have to be practical about the things revealed to us. Such is the case according to Amos the prophet. Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
Now, reading Amos 3:7, how many of us are willing to ask the question “Why will God not do anything before revealing it to His prophets?” Not many of us are willing to ask that question because the revelation of the question will place on our shoulders the responsibility to act on the revelation. But instead of understanding, God is revealing to his people what he is about to do before he does them so that we might act in preparation of what he is about to do, we are happy to believe God will send a miracle to rescue us.
This behaviour needs to change among us Christians because if we do not change this way of thinking and start to believe in Jesus Christ, and his authority that we might act on his word in light of what has been revealed. We along with the world will pay a price for our idleness.
Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: and because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” And God will forget our children, but not because we have rejected him, but it will be because they were not taught the law and word of God to be able to serve in the courts of God.
